"I actually got into running quite late. Like countless others, it wasn't until the world went into lockdown that I discovered what running could do for me. I spent the beginning of the pandemic in Hampshire, and decided I would start running in lieu of being able to go to the gym. I was immediately hooked, and running became a form of meditation for me, more than anything. I would venture out after a long day at work, and in those early days of lockdown, I witnessed the seasons shift from winter into spring, and then spring into summer. It was so beautiful, and it definitely got me through some of the darkest times in 2020. I moved back to London, and then to Berlin permanently in October of that year, where the lockdown regulations were even more intense, but I carried on my routine of running three to four times per week. Running in a new environment is one of the best things you can do, I got to explore the city in such a unique way, and found new routes to try all the time. The longest run I've done so far is only about 15km, but once I've finished my part-time MBA in Berlin, I'd love to try and run a marathon.
Adoption of the circular economy model is more crucial now than it ever has been, and Dryad are one of the first companies to do this, by utilising recycled materials to create sustainable and long lasting women's running gear. It has been such a pleasure to work with them. The biggest thing about getting into running for me was the community that comes with it, and Dryad represents everything in that sense - honesty, integrity, and unity."
Based in Berlin, Ellie is a product manager at Partisan Records and works with artists from the likes of IDLES, Laura Marling, Beth Orton, Ezra Collective, and, among others, three generations of Kutis; Fela, Femi and Mádé. She has a regular radio show on Refuge Worldwide, and one day hopes to run her first marathon.
